In 2014, as part of a series of works I presented in the Cuenca Biennial, Ecuador, I collected some pebbles in the Tomebamba river that runs through the city. I asked local stone carvers to do a detailed copy of them, using locally found andesite stone.
For the exhibition Black Jacket, Gray Sweatshirt at the gallery CarrerasMugica in Bilbao, I made two papier maché bases to go together with the stones, copying the diameter of the columns in the exhibition space.
9 river stones,
9 carved andesita stones,
2 papier mâché structures
40 x 55 cm and 40 x 65 cm
