I invited Arthur Lien, a courtroom sketch illustrator, to document the 16 frescoes found inside the San Rocco church. These paintings were made at the time Mennochio was the administrator of the church. According to Aldo Colonnello, an inhabitant of Montereale, it is possible that the miller made enemies at the time because of his obligation to collect money for the town works, which included forced tribute from some of the poorest inhabitants. Weary of the repeated complaints from members of the town, he decided he would no longer collect money from some, at which time both the church and the town coincided in their animosity toward him. This delicate situation may have been the precursor to the later accusations of heresy during the inquisition.
The texts that surround and cover the drawings are divided into two parts: the texts written in pencil are popular interpretations from the perspective of Aldo Colonello, while the texts in brown pencil are official accounts taken from art history books by Davide Zanutta.
